We provide comprehensive medical care
with outstanding and altruistic specialists for each of our beneficiaries.
Altruistic medical body
Applicants who come to Destellos de Luz already suffer from some type of visual impairment—whether from birth, trauma, poor nutrition, aging, diabetic retinopathy, disease, or accidents, among other causes.
In most cases, these individuals have never had access to vision treatment due to lack of resources and/or medical coverage. Sadly, many of these children and adults will suffer permanent vision loss if they do not receive timely treatment for their critical condition.
Our model of care is directed exclusively to low-income individuals who lack any form of public or private medical coverage, as our efforts are focused on those most in need.
The care we provide is comprehensive—from consultations, visual diagnostics, and specialized exams to treatments and surgeries when indicated. We also provide post-operative follow-up until each beneficiary is discharged, according to their individual case.
Since our foundation, we have brought together a team of distinguished ophthalmologists, anesthesiologists, and internists from various specialties who, motivated by our mission, generously donate their work.
Our volunteers, doctors, and social workers dedicate their time and expertise to each patient throughout their visual treatment, guiding them every step of the way through the entire process of comprehensive medical care.
Today, we are working successfully with recognized hospitals and clinics, where our patients are personally and professionally cared for by our doctors and the dedicated staff of their Ophthalmology Departments.
