What is a screen reader?

A screen reader is used, such as NVDA or another type that allows visually impaired people to use a regular computer through the use of key commands.

The screen reader allows the person to listen to the information by reading the content that appears on the screens of Office programs, the Internet, or email.

"A smiling girl wearing pink glasses and a blue uniform uses a laptop equipped with the NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) screen reader as part of her vision rehabilitation and technology education program. The image shows how children with visual impairments or low vision learn to navigate and access digital content using assistive technology, developing essential computing skills that allow them to interact with software and websites through keyboard commands and auditory feedback."
